Young Journalists: what are we waiting for to no longer follow the rules? Digitalis

C ela been a while since I wanted to know how young journalists web-native lived their entry into a profession that, in fact, nothing more a dream Brat pink: insecure institutionalized in the form of courses and repeated CSD, productivism Shiva as a handbook, rule of petty chiefs on web editors organized for the stream and nothing but the stream of blind arrogance "newsosaures' s era printed before the great digital transformation of information ... the status accorded to this generation surdiplômée and much better trained than we were unworthy. And the crisis of the press does not explain everything. Our generation, that of Gutenberg, was previously unable to understand and adapt to the challenges of the Internet revolution. And in real cases kills any attempt at innovation in newsrooms superbly ignoring what youth have to teach us on the Web. I wanted to read it all from the pen of a colleague under 30 years. Morgane Tual , who was my student a few years ago, picked up the gauntlet. And the result décoiffe beyond my expectations. For "Generation Y" is also his grade ... Read more the ticket for my guest:

E nvie write, but lack of inspiration. Twitter is used for everything, even to find something to blog about. It was Jean-Christophe Feraud, my former boss at Les Echos, old fart kind of self-proclaimed we would like to see more often, which blew me about this idea: "Young / old media, paper / internet generational conflicts? " .
In reading, I was moderately packed. I'm a bit tired of noodle branlage journalistico-twitto-intellectual of the moment. And then I changed my mind. Older journalists and their principles, young journalists and their lack of principles , I speak often orally. So why not write it. Stating that he is just a rant, and my remarks on the cons, old or young, are not to generalize.

THE OLD CON
L has only time we had a semblance of being on the internet in my journalism school, it's an old guy, a "size", who came to lecture us. Overall, I always found it strange that people 60 banks come to teach us the press, while have blasted into the air . They bequeathed us media on the verge of bankruptcy, a widespread contempt (and deserved) of the citizens towards us and teach us the good old method of proceeding.
This is especially amusing when a journalist of a certain age come to lecture us on the internet. These types, we have balanced the head of web editors because they had "the baggage" and have the audacity to open a Facebook account in 2007, have all learned in seminars. They are usually also sensitive to the Web a platypus face a Playstation . They will tell with certainty senseless writing for the web is to write short. That mix text with video and sound. Otherwise, it's not "web". Even less "web 2.0".
P have agreed. In fact, nobody knows what Web journalism, and ultimately it as well. What is true today may not be tomorrow. We ride all in the meal / sauerkraut / caviar and confidence for confidence, I love it. Seek to establish "rules" of "practices", maybe it's finally that which is anti-web. However, one type 40, 50, 60 years - or any age - does not hold all the truths about publishing online is not objectionable. What is, however, is the lack of curiosity. During these courses, he would not come to mind of the journalist-professor of us question our practices , busy it is to lather in front of young fans. We saw the old media are not a contradiction. Between rhetoric and practice, there is a large canyon.
E etween them at conferences in which they operate, all hold the same speech: youth are great. "We have to learn everything from digital-native, they have the web in the blood, we are very attentive to the young and new practices" . Strangely, in the many essays that I attended, nobody ever asked me my opinion of (almost) digital-native. You can score in red capital HTML on your CV, everybody is buffered. For parade in seminars explaining that young people are great, there is no problem.
But the reality is that young moldy essays in rotten paid bugger all, sometimes ignored, rarely thanked for internships at the limits of legality, to work like animals to lay up of the mail shabby no time. Challenging, this is only good for conferences. In truth, we wait quietly retired, glorifying the time before, accusing the web for all the ills of the press, carefully avoiding to feel responsible. After us the deluge.

YOUNG CONS
H fortunately, the young generation is here to take over. No? No. Generation Y, especially the generation plane-plane . as well think that our seniors. Except that the old, they have at least the merit of having been young once in their life, trying to fuck up everything in the years 60-70. Today, journalism is to be socially recognized, and especially not to change the profession. We dream about in the post with the same tone cloned, write in prestigious journals and, if we are lucky and pretty face that goes with it, to make the presentation on television, the ultimate glory. Left to reproduce the same model that forever, we know now is doomed to failure. In short, reinvent journalism, very little for us . now, the few launch new ambitious projects often have over fifty. And the only one who showed us as impertinent, young idiots, should be if we fulfill our social role, is an old anarchist octogenarian. Today, launching a media nevertheless became technically and financially more accessible than before. We have a huge freedom. From a space of unlimited play. And we do not take possession . The few newspapers launched by young people motivated, even though they are often of remarkable quality, remain a hopeless wisdom.
N e're generation CPE. Our fight, it was not to change the world. No, we everything we wanted, it's a fucking CDI ! In 1968, young people wanted to abolish work and consumerism. We do not want a contract to buy power a car on credit. Security. comfort. Especially do not change. What about the "digital-native"? In this context of insecurity complete the job market, the e web has become a huge opportunity to make themselves known, off-beaten paths CV candy. the "personal branding" exceed the thousand followers on Twitter, get invited to parties VIP Parisian chic and underground became a goal in itself.
We spend a lot of time on these trivialities, we away every day of the report of field survey and, more importantly, people. Of all these people who do not know what Web 2.0, much less what Twitter, and who do not care who, in addition, may have good reason. What we expect to no longer follow the rules? Who will follow Siné, to shit in the glue in our way?
